Korean defense company Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) successfully tested the flight with the "Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod (Sniper ATP)" installed on the FA-50 fighter.

Foreign media such as Reuters reported on the 22nd that KAI successfully completed the aerial test with a Sniper ATP mounted on the FA-50.

The ATP Sniper is a targeting system developed by Lockheed Martin. This product identifies enemy targets and selects targets in all weather conditions, such as day and night, improving missile accuracy. This system can be used up to an altitude of 151,000 m, so it is also powerful in air combat.

The FA-50 is a fighter aircraft produced by KAI in cooperation with US defense company Lockheed Martin since 2002. Since many Lockheed Martin technologies have been applied to the FA-50, KAI's FA-50 is expected to be used in this Sniper ATP test. The countries in which the FA-50/TA-50 operated are Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Iraq, and Thailand.

Lockheed Martin said the flight test was an opportunity to demonstrate the performance of the new advanced equipment.

An industry insider said, “Korea and other related countries will be interested in integrating the existing equipment (FA-50) with the Sniper ATP.”
