QDND – From September 14 to 22, Coast Guard Region 2 conducted comprehensive tactical drills and live-fire exercises at sea. Senior Colonel Nguyen Minh Khanh, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Region, directly commanded the exercises.
The exercises involved numerous vessels, ship formations, and personnel from the unit. Participating forces executed various tasks, including: transitioning to combat readiness; conducting patrols, inspections, and law enforcement operations; defending sovereignty; performing search and rescue missions; and handling situations related to maritime security and safety.
During the live-fire phase, officers and troops practiced firing infantry weapons as well as ship-mounted guns and cannons, engaging both low-altitude aerial and surface targets.
All drills successfully met the established requirements while ensuring absolute safety for personnel, weapons, equipment, and vessels.
Despite challenging weather conditions—including thunderstorms and fog—the officers and troops remained united, overcame difficulties, and strictly adhered to discipline and safety regulations.
The exercises helped enhance the command, technical, and tactical proficiency of the personnel, as well as their mobility, coordination, and ability to handle maritime situations. This ensures the unit is capable of fulfilling its mission to manage and defend sovereignty while maintaining security, order, and safety in its assigned waters.
