The Philippine Air Force (PAF) inaugurated the completed Basing Support System under the Pag-asa Island Project on April 23, 2026, at the Municipality of Kalayaan, Pag-asa Island, Palawan. The ceremony was presided over by the Commanding General, PAF, Lieutenant General Arthur M Cordura PAF, who served as the Guest of Honor.
The project marked the completion of key basing support infrastructure and facilities designed to enhance air operations in the area, strengthening the PAF’s capability to sustain operations and support strategic infrastructure in the West Philippine Sea. Implemented in close coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), MAMSAR Construction Corporation, and the Local Government Unit of Palawan, the project reflects a unified effort in advancing strategic infrastructure in the area. In his remarks, Lieutenant General Cordura underscored that conditions which once limited operational tempo have now been addressed, enabling more reliable and continuous mission support.
In the same visit, the CG, PAF led the distribution of school supplies to students of Pag-asa Elementary School, underscoring the PAF’s continued commitment to community engagement and support for local residents alongside its operational mandate.
This milestone highlights the PAF’s dedication to improving operational readiness and reinforcing its presence in strategically significant areas, as it remains steadfast in its mission to protect the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while contributing to regional stability and security.
