Philippine Army's 155mm Self-Propelled Howitzer Acquisition Project under the Re-Horizon 3 modernization phase has advanced significantly in 2025.
This involves procuring 12 wheeled self-propelled howitzer units, along with munitions and support, with a budget of approximately PHP 5.5 billion via a government-to-government deal.
As of August 31, 2025, the shortlist was narrowed to two European systems: the DITA from Czech Republic's Excalibur Army and the CAESAR Mk.II from KNDS (a Franco-German consortium).

Israel's Elbit Systems ATMOS was initially considered but excluded due to delivery risks from ongoing delays in other Philippine contracts.
Tracked systems like South Korea's K9 Thunder were ruled out early, as the project prioritizes wheeled platforms for mobility, lower costs, and compatibility with existing logistics.
