Malaysia Tests Türkiye’s FNSS Pars IV 6×6 Special Operations Vehicle

Malaysia has conducted firepower tests on the FNSS Pars IV 6×6 Special Operations (S-Ops) Vehicle, evaluating the vehicle’s performance and advanced weapon systems.

The Malaysian team expressed satisfaction with the stabilized remote-controlled weapon systems produced by Aselsan, according to a social media post by Malaysia Military Review on March 2, 2025.

The tests reportedly aimed to assess the combat effectiveness and maneuverability of the Pars IV SOV, which is designed for special operations forces. Unlike previous evaluations in Malaysia, this trial focused on the latest 6×6 platform, building on earlier tests of the Pars 4×4 and Pars 6×6 by the Malaysian Army in 2022.

The FNSS Pars IV 6×6 SOV features stabilized remote-controlled weapon stations capable of engaging elevated targets on buildings or high terrain.

Designed for both military and internal security forces, it integrates mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) capabilities with enhanced mobility, enabling operations in various environments.

Malaysia’s ongoing defense partnership with FNSS

Malaysia has a long-standing collaboration with FNSS, notably through the AV8 Gempita program.

 

The DefTech AV8 Gempita, an 8×8 armored vehicle based on the technology of FNSS-designed FNSS Pars 8×8 developed with FNSS technology, has been in service with the Malaysian Army since 2014.

A total of 257 units were produced in Malaysia by DefTech, featuring multiple configurations such as infantry fighting vehicles, anti-tank variants, and battlefield recovery units.

The AV8 program began in 2011 through a partnership between FNSS and DefTech, with deliveries commencing in 2014. The vehicle provides protection against 14.5mm armor-piercing rounds and includes amphibious capabilities.
