RIMBA AIR FORCE BASE - The Foundation Laying Ceremony for the Proposed New Building for the Unmanned Aerial System Squadron, Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) was held at the project site at Rimba Air Force Base this afternoon.

The ceremony was officiated by the guest of honour, Yang Mulia Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Sharif Bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, Commander of the RBAirF. Also in attendance were the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, the Acting Director of Development and Work Services and the Deputy Commander of the RBAirF, as well as officers and staff from the Directorate of Development and Work Services, Ministry of Defence.

The foundation laying ceremony commenced with the recital of Doa Selamat by 1156 Captain Muhammad Wafiy bin Haji Mahdini from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Religious Directorate (JAMA’AT), followed by a briefing regarding the new project.
 
The new building for the Unmanned Aerial System Squadron will have a total floor area of 2272 m², including a lobby, offices, filing room, conference room, simulator rooms, seminar room, storerooms, and working space. The building is situated near the existing RBAirF Fire Station at Rimba Air Force Base.

The construction of the new building for the Unmanned Aerial System Squadron commenced on 17 January 2024. This project is one of the projects under the 12th National Development Plan and is expected to be completed in March 2025. The main contractor for this project is AL-C Sdn Bhd.
