On July 5, the ŁUKASIEWICZ Research Network - Industrial Institute for Automation and Measurements PIAP announced the delivery of another GRYF EOD class (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) medium pyrotechnic robots for the Indonesian armed forces. Functional commissioning and training for sappers of the land and air forces of this country took place on June 22-25 this year.
The contract was for PIAP GRYF medium pyrotechnic robots. One set included: a mobile robot PIAP GRYF, a handle for a recoilless pyrotechnic ejector and FNK (Freeze Neutralizing Kit), an active fiber optic winder and a FNK freezing device.
The ŁUKASIEWICZ Research Network - Industrial Institute for Automation and Measurements PIAP is a supplier of mobile robots to most types of Indonesian armed forces, i.e. the Navy (Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Laut, TNI-AL), Air Forces (Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Udara, TNI-AU) and Land Forces (Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Darat, TNI-AD). Products under the Ł-PIAP logo have been on the market since 2014. The previous delivery was made in the first quarter of 2017.
PIAP GRYF is a robot used for reconnaissance of terrain and hard-to-reach places. By means of a manipulator with 5 degrees of freedom and a gripper jaw clamping function, it is possible to pick up loads weighing up to 15 kg. The robot's wheels can be easily disassembled, which reduces the size of the robot, and thus facilitates action in narrow spaces. Thanks to the applied drives, the robot efficiently overcomes uneven terrain and obstacles with an inclination angle of up to 45 °. A special feature of the robot is its excellent maneuverability.
Low weight (48 kg) makes it easy to transport and carry the robot, and its modular design allows for quick and easy change of additional equipment. The PIAP GRYF mobile robot is adapted to work with a variety of additional equipment, such as: pyrotechnic ejector, semi-automatic smoothbore shotgun, X-ray device, explosives vapor sensor, winders with fiber optic and a bus for remote explosives firing (10 robots for KGP).
The FNK device is a remote freezing system manufactured by CSL in England, designed to supply liquid nitrogen to hazardous packages in order to temporarily neutralize the power source or freeze all materials in liquid form.
