On August 27, 2026, Maj. Gen. Rawee Tangpitakkul, Director of the Army Research and Development Office (ARDO), and his team observed a live-fire test. The system being tested—an anti-UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) turret—was developed through a joint research project involving Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chana Raksiri and a research team from Kasetsart University, in collaboration with the Royal Thai Army, ArmySys Co., Ltd., and Thai Rung Co., Ltd. The test took place at the Khao Phu Lon Artillery Range, Artillery Center, Lopburi Province.
This live-fire test utilized a 12.7mm machine gun against an aerial target (a drone towing a balloon). The objective was to evaluate the performance of the turret's control and command software across two developed configurations:
1. Vehicle-mounted turret (Mobile type)
2. Ground-based turret (Stationary type)
Test results demonstrated that the turret could automatically track targets detected by EO/IR cameras and accurately destroy moving targets—as designed in the Automatic Tracking and Fire Control software. This developed platform serves as a crucial foundation, ready to be adapted for broader anti-drone and moving-target defense systems capable of handling various engagement ranges and mission profiles.
