US Govt Approve Sale of 24 AGM-11R Hellfire to Singapore

The U.S. Department of State has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Singapore to purchase AGM-114R Hellfire missiles. The Government of Singapore has requested to buy an additional twenty-four (24) AGM-114R Hellfire missiles; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support that will be added to a previously implemented case whose value was under the congressional notification threshold. The original Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case, valued at $12.4 million ($9.4 million in major defense equipment (MDE), included personnel training and training equipment; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support.
This notification is for a combined total of sixty-seven (67) Hellfire missiles (AGM-114R). The following non-MDE items will also be included: five (5) years of AGM-114R Hellfire spare parts; Hellfire technical manual; reprogramming of M299 launchers; return and repair material and services; technical publications; unguided munitions and services; software verification and calibration of AN/AWM-101; Hellfire missiles and support equipment; chaff, flares, and technical assistance; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total cost is $22.3 million.
This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a strategic partner that is an important force for political stability and economic progress in Asia.
The proposed sale will improve Singapore’s capability to meet current and future threats by enhancing and extending the Singapore Air Force’s ability to conduct operations and enable effective training. Singapore will have no difficulty absorbing this training into its armed forces.
The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.
