The Royal Thai Air Force and the Singapore Air Force Completed Joint Exercise AIR THAISING 2026

The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) completed the combined air exercise AIR THAISING 2026 from 6-16 July 2026 (2026) at Wing 23, Udon Thani. The opening ceremony was held on 7 July 2026 and the closing ceremony on 16 July 2026.

Bilateral training between the Royal Thai Air Force and the Singapore Air Force has resumed after being suspended since the first trilateral combined exercise, Cope Tiger, between Thailand, Singapore, and the United States Air Force (USAF) in 1996. The most recent exercise, Cope Tiger 2026, took place from March 15-27, 2026.

This is the second time the Royal Thai Air Force has deployed its Beechcraft AT-6TH Wolverine attack aircraft, from Squadron 411, Wing 41, Chiang Mai, to participate in the AIR THAISING 2026 combined exercise. The first participation was in AIR THAISING 2025, which took place from July 14-25, 2025.

The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) also participated in the AIR THAISING 2026 combined exercise this year with its Dornier Alpha Jet TH attack aircraft, from Squadron 231, Wing 23. Meanwhile, the Singapore Air Force (SAF) brought its Lockheed Martin F-16C/D Block 52 Fighting Falcon fighter jets from Squadrons 143 and 145 to the exercise.

This year's AIR THAISING 2026 combined exercise focuses on ground target attack missions with the Combat Control Team (CCT) from the Special Operations Regiment (SOR) or Security Force Command (SFC) of the Royal Thai Air Force. The training takes place at the Chai Badan Air Weapons Training Range in Lopburi Province.

In addition to the completed training within Thailand, the Royal Thai Air Force and the Singapore Air Force also participated in the international combined air exercise Pitch Black 2026 in Australia from July 20 to August 7, 2026. This year, the Royal Thai Air Force sent its F-16AM/BM EMLU fighter jets from Squadron 403, Wing 4, Takhli Air Base, to participate in this biennial exercise in Australia.
