Marine Protector-class Patrol Boat Undergoes Pre-Transfer Training Ahead of Delivery to the PCG

On 25 June 2026, a former U.S. Coast Guard Marine Protector-Class Patrol Boat scheduled for transfer to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is conducting a series of training and operational drills in Curtis Bay, Maryland, as part of its pre-transfer preparations. The activities are designed to verify the vessel’s operational readiness while familiarizing its future crew with the boat’s systems, capabilities, and standard operating procedures prior to its official turnover.

The training is being conducted by Coast Guard Fleet personnel, who are currently undergoing an intensive qualification program in the United States. Throughout the exercise, the crew performs a wide range of practical evolutions, including vessel handling, engineering operations, navigation, communications, damage control, firefighting, and emergency response procedures.

The hands-on drills ensure that the personnel acquire the technical knowledge and operational proficiency necessary to safety and effectively operate the Marine Protector-Class Patrol Boat upon its delivery to the Philippine Coast Guard, further enhancing the organization’s maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, and maritime security capabilities.
