A further four ACOPVs will be brought into service, with the first two built at Osborne Naval Shipyard, and a further four to be constructed at Henderson, Western Australia.
On Saturday 30 May 2026, Arafura Class Offshore Patrol Vessel (ACOPV) Eyre was Commissioned into service in a ceremony at HMAS Stirling, Western Australia.
HMAS Eyre is the second of class, and will now operate as His Majesty’s Australian Ship (HMAS).
Together with the evolved Cape Class Patrol Boats, the vessels will play a key role in Navy’s contribution to helping patrol and secure Australia’s maritime borders.
