On February 27, 2026, the Navy's Equipment Procurement Office posted a procurement plan on the Royal Thai Navy website for the procurement of wheeled armored vehicles (8x8) for personnel transport using a special procurement method, with a budget of 504 million baht.

Details of the additional armored vehicles to be purchased were not disclosed. A procurement announcement is expected in March 2026.

It is understood that this project involves 8x8 AWAVs (Armored Wheeled Amphibious Vehicles) from Chaiseri Metal and Rubber Company, which were awarded through a special procurement method.

The previous procurement of seven vehicles was conducted through a selection process. The total budget was 448 million baht, or 64 million baht per unit. If the same number of seven units were purchased this time, the price of the new AWAV lot would be 72 million baht per unit. This represents an increase of 8 million baht per unit, with a three-year timeframe.
