PAF Accepts Second FPS-3ME Air Surveillance Radar System

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) conducted the Acceptance, Turnover, and Blessing Ceremony of the second FPS-3ME Air Surveillance Radar System on March 23, 2026. The activity was graced by the Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force, Lieutenant General Arthur M Cordura PAF.

The ceremony marked the formal turnover of the radar system to Brigadier General Vicente A Naldoza Jr PAF, Wing Commander of the 580th Aircraft Control and Warning Wing. The newly accepted system is expected to enhance the Philippine Air Force’s air surveillance capability and support ongoing efforts to strengthen air domain awareness.

In his message, Lieutenant General Cordura expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, noting that the radar system enhances the 580th Aircraft Control and Warning Wing’s capability to monitor airspace, detect threats, and provide timely support to air operations. He emphasized that such assets strengthen national defense, advance shared security objectives, and embody the PAF’s commitment to a mission-oriented, capability-driven, and values-based organization.
