Today, Chief of Defence Force Vice Admiral (VADM) Aaron Beng officiated the Keel Laying Ceremony for our second Multi-Role Combat Vessel (MRCV) at ST Engineering Marine Limited. The ceremony was also attended by Chief of Navy Rear Admiral (RADM) Sean Wat and senior officials and representatives from the RSN, DSTA and ST Engineering Marine.
The keel laying ceremony is a time-honoured tradition in shipbuilding, commemorating the ‘birth’ of a new ship cradled in its shipyard.
The RSN’s MRCVs will progressively replace our Victory-class Missile Corvettes (MCVs), which have been in service since 1989. The MRCVs are expected to be delivered from 2028 onwards.
