Royal Thai Navy and Republic Singapore Navy Hold Opening Ceremony of SINGSIAM 2024 Joint Exercise

Exercise SINGSIAM 2024 is a bilateral exercise between the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN). The exercise has been held every two years since 1981, alternating between Thailand and Singapore. This latest exercise is the 21st to be conducted in the Gulf of Thailand, Thailand, during 9-16 July 2024.

The Royal Thai Navy, which is the host of the exercise, has brought ships from the Royal Thai Fleet (RTF) to participate in the exercise. The main force consists of HTMS Naresuan-class frigates, HTMS Taksin, 2nd Frigate Squadron (2nd FS) as the primary responsible unit for the exercise, and HTMS Bhumibol Adulyadej, 1st Frigate Squadron (1st FS).

The Republic of Singapore Navy has sent one Independence-class Littoral Mission Vessel (LMV), namely RSS Indomitable (19), and one Victory-class corvette, namely RSS Valiant (91), to join the exercise. Both ships have arrived and are anchored at Chuk Samet Pier, Sattahip Naval Base, Sattahip District, Chonburi Province, Thailand.

The opening ceremony of the SINGSIAM 2024 joint exercise on July 9, 2024 at Laem Thian Pier, Sattahip Naval Base also took place at the same time that the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) conducted the AIR THAISING 2024 joint exercise at Wing 1, Korat, Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
