MoD Signs Contract Agreement with Airbus Helicopters S.A.S. for the Acquisition of Six Airbus H145M Helicopters

BOLKIAH GARRISON, Tuesday, 30 April 2024 – The Ministry of Defence, as a representative of the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam, signed a contract agreement with Airbus Helicopters S.A.S. for the acquisition of six new Airbus H145M helicopters today.  The signing ceremony took place at the Officers’ Mess, Bolkiah Garrison.

Signing on behalf of the Ministry of Defence was Yang Mulia Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, while representing Airbus Helicopters S.A.S. was Mr. Fabrice Rochereau, Vice President and Head of Sales, Strategy, and Marketing, Asia-Pacific.

The contract agreement signing ceremony was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II.  The ceremony was also attended by Yang Mulia Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Service Commanders, Acting Joint Force Commander, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Directors and Senior Officers from the Ministry of Defence.

The Airbus H145M helicopter is a multi-role aircraft currently operated by more than 34 countries. All six helicopters will be introduced into service gradually starting from the year 2026 to replace the Bolkow BO105 helicopters, which have been retired from service.  These helicopters will significantly enhance the RBAF’s operational capabilities for missions such as Close Air Support (CAS), Aerial Observation, and various other operations.
