Assignmnet of four Vietnamese Coast Guard ship (image : VietDefense)Once CSB-8021 arrives home to Vietnam it will be placed under the command of the Vietnam Coast Guard's Region #3 where it's sister ship CSB-8020 currently serves.
With two 3250 ton Hamilton-class cutters, two 2400 ton DN2000-class patrol ships (CSB-8001, CSB-8005), and the usual assortment of smaller maritime law enforcement ships within it's jurisdiction, Region #3 is set to become the strongest out of all the VCG's commands.
This is important since Region #3 is responsible for all operations around the Spratly Islands and is involved the most in territorial disputes.
Since 3 Hamilton-class cutters were requested from the United States we can expect the 3rd ship to also be stationed in Coast Guard Region #3 upon acquisition.
